Labyrinth and the Stations of the Cross experienced together

I offered a labyrinth walk with the Stations of the Cross embedded within the labyrinth during Holy Week until the week after Easter.  It was a self-led walk so offered people an opportunity to walk at their own pace with plenty of time to contemplate each Station.  The powerful metaphoric language of the labyrinth combined with the Stations made for a very deep prayer time for many people.

The long, dark night has passed

The sun’s raw light lengthens each succeeding day

The earth softens as the warmth of spring penetrates deep inside.

 

Tightly folded, purple petals press against the snow-soaked soil

As the long promised light swells, neatly folded petals burst into iridescent

purple blooms

The flower of peace again revealed to a world anxiously awaiting such sure signs of spring.

 

Embrace this timeless beauty sharing its shy, peace-filled face

Patiently awaiting discovery of its royal color nestled beneath the

 grasses of a season long past.

 

Open your eyes and see

Open your ears and listen

Open your heart and know

 

This flower of peace comes transformed by light into new life

This flower of peace comes announcing the resurrected Prince of Peace!

The springtime of new life………

 

Join in the transforming light of the world

Join with the transforming dance of creation……….

 

Through our Christ who is alive!
